I am continuing the flying horse carousel oil painting. This is a New England historic landmark located in Watch Hill, RI. Working my way from the background to the foreground I am finishing the sky area first. I wanted the sunset to be more intense with a brighter reflection in the water. The setting sun is top half and just off center in the canvas. If you follow that bright area down you will see the line of people waiting to ride the carousel. This is the focal point of the painting. I had already worked out my composition before I even started painting on the canvas. This makes the painting quicker and easier when many decisions have already been worked out.
Check back to follow along with this large oil painting.
